Medjugorje Magazine
Larry and Mary Sue Eck, Chicagoland residents, went on a pilgrimage to the little village of Medjugorje in Bosnia, Herzegovina in 1988. It had been reported that Our Lady had been appearing there to six teenagers since 1981.
They returned a year later with 76 married couples and six priests, (158 pilgrims from the Marriage Encounter Movement) and gave a retreat with a priest.
On that pilgrimage Our Lady asked them both, at exactly the same moment, to start Medjugorje Magazine in the United States. They published the first issue in 1990. Over the next years, they took 17 more pilgrimages to Medjugorje. Larry died in 2012 and Mary Sue remained as editor and publisher of the magazine which has continued until now.
For a number of reasons - Mary Sue’s health, declining readership, increased printing costs, it is with heavy hearts we announce that we will be ending our publishing of Medjugorje Magazine. The Spring 2024 issue is the final issue of Medjugorje Magazine.
We want to thank all of our loyal subscribers who have been with us throughout the years, some for the entire 34! Many have written us with the most kind and thoughtful words of encouragement, gratitude, and support. God bless each and every one of you.
Most especially, we want to thank our dear Blessed Mother. SHE is the reason we began this journey into publishing the Medjugorje Magazine, and she will always be our lead, bringing us one day into the arms of our Savior, her Son, Jesus Christ.
