I Delight in Your Will - Mary's Journey of Faith

When the angel invited Mary to play such a unique role in the Father's plan of salvation, Mary responded with a prayer that was wonderfully pleasing to God: "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word" (Luke 1:38).  Through Mary's fiat - her "yes" to God - she willingly yielded to God's desire to pour his love out on humanity through the gift of his Son.  More than the words themselves, Mary's disposition - her love for God, her humility, her desire that God's plan be accomplished - made her prayer so beautiful.

Let us make it our goal to pray Mary's prayer every day.  As this prayer flows from our hearts, we can imagine our Father smiling upon us, just as he rejoiced in Mary's words to the angel.
